Raising your Vital Life Force - The Science and the Practice
I am inspired and nourished by the earth and the five classical elements from Hindu and Buddhist culture; earth, water, fire, air and ether. In ancient Vedic thought the part is never separate from the whole. We are like waves in the ocean. Our individual bodies are made from these five elements and in connecting to them we can feel revitalised, enriched, renewed.
Shamans of ancient China would make offerings to the sky, earth, mountains, valleys and rivers to gain knowledge and wisdom. In Taoism the Tao is the source of all life. Its highest concentrations are in the sun, moon, stars, mist, rocks and earth.
The Taoists believe that if we can absorb energy from rich elements such as the sun and moon, we can attain health and longevity
Earth element - our bones - our foundation. Without a connection to earth we lose our centering. Earth grounds and supports us.
Water element - our fluids - fluidity is openness to change. Our cells breathe and move in symbiosis with our fluids, and if our joints are not lubricated, we stagnate. Just like the earth our bodies are 70% water .
Fire - our energy and passion. Fire can cleanse, transform and transcend existing ways of being.
Air is breath and breath is life. If we do not breathe freely, we live a narrowed, restricted existence. Our breath is our direct contact with the world.
Ether is our hopes and dreams, The fifth and highest element beyond the earth's atmosphere, the heavens. Ether brings forth transcendence and vision.
